Two valuable resources have been added to Infobase’s Ancient and Medieval History database. The new Themes in Ancient History and Themes in Medieval History sections each explore 14 major themes across the entire era by region. This framework makes it easy for students to focus in depth on a particular theme in one region and then examine that theme in different areas across the full reach of ancient and medieval history.
These new thematic essays encourage students to think conceptually about history by focusing on patterns, connections, and historical change. Taken together, they explore the major themes throughout ancient and medieval history across the world. Discussion questions for each theme encourage students to think critically.
The themes covered include:
- Agriculture
- Architecture
- Art
- Cities
- Climate and Geography
- Economy
- Empires and Dynasties
- Government Organization
- Literature
- Migration and Population Movements
- Religion and Cosmology
- Science
- Social Organization
- War and Conquest.
