1. Look for Ways to Build Relationships

The beginning of the school year can be challenging. Support all students by establishing classroom rules and norms. Learn360 has content in both English and Spanish to set a foundation of acceptance and inclusivity. Launch a class conversation with Respect Diversity (274987) and reinforce classroom expectations with Courtesy Counts – Spanish (78051).

2. Incorporate Students’ Native Languages to Enhance Dual Language Learning

Embracing the many languages in your classroom benefits both the English Language Learners and the native English speakers. Share multicultural read alouds in both English and Spanish, such as Too Many Tamales (Spanish) (83486) and Too Many Tamales (English) (83348). We love our recent additions from Vooks, including Monster, Be Good! (279713).

3. Explicitly Teach Academic Language Vocabulary and Structures

Support ELL with explicit vocabulary and grammar instruction. For many English Language Learners, the nuances of idioms and shades of meaning can be a challenge. Support English literacy with engaging Word Power videos and direct instruction. Explore the use of Idioms (204721) and start a practice of using an idiom a day with Busy as a Bee (203684). Let Learn360 support your literacy instruction with engaging grammar, vocabulary, and spelling videos.

4. Build on ELL’s Background Knowledge to Support Comprehension

Preview new topics and content with your English Language Learners. With Learn360, you can build on your student’s background knowledge by introducing new concepts in their native language. Students can reinforce their daily STEAM lessons by rewatching instruction in both English and Spanish. From protecting our Earth with Recursos Naturales (74490) to exploring outer space with Galaxia (155527), Learn360 has engaging content in Spanish to fit your Spanish curriculum.
