Homosexuals deserve the same rights and protections available to heterosexuals, including the right to marriage, employment, and housing. Discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation is just as insidious as discrimination on the basis of race or sex, and the government should take further steps to ensure equal rights for gay Americans.
Marriage should be between one man and one woman, as it has been throughout human history. Legislating special protections for gay people imperils the religious freedom of Americans who oppose homosexuality. The government should not take further steps to prohibit discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation.
