Prevent Bullying: Resources to Build a More Inclusive Classroom

Prevent Bullying: Resources to Build a More Inclusive Classroom

Students in a group hug

Many of us remember being excluded when we were young, and the psychological scars left behind can be devastating. How can we, as educators, help stop bullying—including cyberbullying—before it starts? Instilling and encouraging empathy is a great start; when students can put themselves into another student’s shoes, there’s a good chance they’ll be less likely to inflict abuse. Promoting an inclusive environment is key, as bullying is often linked to different forms of social inequity, including racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, and ableism.

National Bullying Prevention Month calls attention to this issue, but we need to be aware and proactive all year long. Turn to Infobase for content that can help you build a more inclusive classroom where every student feels safe and accepted.
