New York, NY, March 28, 2019—Infobase is pleased to announce its partnership with the Virtual Library of Virginia (VIVA), a consortium of nonprofit academic libraries within the Commonwealth of Virginia. The three-year contract expands Films On Demand coverage to 39 state-assisted colleges and universities in Virginia—17 of them new with this agreement—with a full-time enrollment of more than 307,000 students. Private academic institutions in Virginia have the opportunity to opt in as well.
The exceptional video collection secured in this deal—which includes the Films On Demand Master Academic Collection and the Archival Films & Newsreels Collection—provides instant, unlimited access to thousands of full-length videos and video clips, many exclusive, from hundreds of top producers. New titles are added regularly.
Designed to provide every academic department on campus with the most essential video titles for their field of study, the newly relaunched Films On Demand collection includes Oscar, Emmy, and Peabody award-winning documentaries; A-list performances spanning the arts; outstanding educational films; archival and historical films; and more. Its fully responsive and mobile-friendly format, flexible access and integration options, convenient segments, full language support, dynamic citations, customization tools, and dedicated administrative and product support are among the numerous highlights.
“It is VIVA’s mission to contribute to the excellence of higher education in Virginia by providing access to high-quality academic resources,” said Anne C. Osterman, VIVA Director. “With this deal, VIVA is excited to be able to offer our members access to more than 36,000 exceptional, curriculum-focused films covering topics that will appeal broadly across our campuses.”
