Infobase Announces Availability of New Films On Demand App for Apple Devices

Empowering learners with easy access to 40,000+ streaming videos anytime, anywhere.

New York, NY, March 20, 2020—Infobase, the award-winning provider of digital reference content to the school and library community, today made its Films On Demand content available in the Apple App Store for all participating users, giving them immediate access to more than 40,000 streaming videos via its new app. Users must sign in with the username and password for their subscribing library or user account.

This is the first release of the Films On Demand app in the Apple App Store, and should be considered a beta version, with more releases—including a version for Android—coming in the next few months.

Premier Distance Learning Resource for All Educators
As universities continue to adapt their closure policies due to the COVID-19 pandemic, educators are scrambling to adapt face-to-face courses, and will likely continue to do so into the summer. With more than 25,000 hours of supplemental academic videos, lectures, and documentaries from top producers and a wealth of features that make the content easy to discover and share, Films On Demand is an ideal distance learning resource for all academic institutions. The vetted, curated videos are conveniently segmented into clips for targeted results. Academic librarians, teachers, and students can enjoy unlimited access from any location, on campus or off.

“The educational landscape is continually evolving, and the ways students learn are always changing, but the constant is that there is always a connection to an educator at some level. And educators are looking for new and effective ways to reach and empower students, wherever they are,” said Paul Skordilis, president and CEO of Infobase. “The new Films On Demand app meets that need of delivering excellent content in meaningful ways to students in all fields of study across the United States and worldwide.”

Automate Content Delivery and Integration
Infobase’s content delivery system enables librarians and educators to seamlessly deliver self-paced learning that can be accessed through a multitude of learning management systems, including Moodle, Brightspace/D2L, Canvas, and Blackboard.

The integration of the Films On Demand Apple app makes it even more convenient for students to stream videos, not just in the classroom, but on the go—on their smartphone, tablet, or even their Apple TV—wherever they are. They can view playlists that were created and shared by their instructors right from their devices, watch videos assigned for research, and resume watching previously viewed videos, all in an ad-free app.

“In these uncertain times, educators and students are looking for new and engaging ways to instruct and to learn. Infobase is focused on providing easy access to reliable information, and Films On Demand is a leader in delivering on this mission,” said Skordilis.

A Wide Range of Curricular Subjects from Top Producers
Films On Demand’s vast content includes titles from more than 1,200 international producers in more than 35 subjects and more than 1,000 subject categories, presenting a wide variety of the most relevant videos to suit the unique instructional needs of every subject.
