Depth on every pathway

The collection covers all 14 career clusters in Advance CTE’s Modernized Career Clusters Framework, with titles on construction, healthcare, information technology, and more. Occupation profiles and technical instruction show students what a job involves before they choose a pathway.

Every video maps to a career cluster or teaches an employability skill such as problem-solving, critical thinking, teamwork, communication, or workplace etiquette. ACTE’s framework names the same employability skills in its criteria for a standards-aligned curriculum.

What the Research Says About Video and Hands-On Skills

Two studies from medical education show how video helps students learn a hands-on skill:

A 2025 systematic review and meta-analysis published in BMC Medical Education found that dental students who learned procedures from video demonstrations outperformed students taught through live demonstrations on both knowledge and practical skills.
In a randomized controlled trial published in the Journal of Minimally Invasive Gynecology, medical students who learned a surgical knot-tying technique from video showed stronger conceptual understanding than students who learned from text.

The Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE) publishes the Quality CTE Program of Study Framework to help programs evaluate and improve their own quality.

- The 2018 framework organizes more than 90 criteria under 12 elements.
- ACTE developed the framework through research, several rounds of practitioner feedback, and pilot testing.
- The framework applies to programs of study spanning secondary and postsecondary education, including high school pathways and two-year technical programs.
- The collection supports four of the framework’s elements: Standards-aligned and Integrated Curriculum; Engaging Instruction; Facilities, Equipment, Technology and Materials; and Student Career Development.
Programs completing an ACTE self-evaluation can cite the collection as instructional material for those four elements.
