She is the 2022 South Carolina School Librarian of the Year, the recipient of the 2022 IFRT Eli M. Oboler Memorial Award, a 2022 Library Journal Mover & Shaker, the 2022 News Literacy Project Alan C. Miller Educator of the Year, and the 2021 NAMLE Media Literacy Teacher Award. She enjoys exploring inquiry-based learning, media and news literacy, intellectual freedom, and literacy for teens.
