Session 2: College and Career Readiness Workshop—College Student Reflections: What They Wish They Knew in High School

Today’s high school students face many unprecedented challenges as they look ahead to higher education and beyond. This is the second part of a two-part virtual workshop series entitled Helping Students Get TO College in an Unprecedented Time: A Workshop for High School Educators where nationally recognized education expert Adam A. Smith equips high school educators with the skills and knowledge to effectively coach students to gain admission to, and prepare for, college.

In this session, current college students—from the University of Alabama, Metropolitan State University, the University of Tennessee, Fisk University, and the University of Kentucky—share their reflections on what they wish they had known in high school, what they would have done differently, and how their school counselors and teachers could have prepared them for the rigors of college academics and social challenges, including virtual learning.
