Career Success Starts at the Public Library: How One Library System Supports Its Diverse Community: Webinar

The Career & Business Reference Services Committee is a group of Suffolk County (NY) librarians whose mission is to share and promote career services, business reference resources, and information services to library professionals with the goal of educating members of their communities. In this webinar, three librarians from the C&B Committee present on several different business and career services offered by this group to support their entire county.

Panelists:

Sal DiVincenzo (Business Reference Librarian, Career & College Services at the Miller Business Center at Middle Country Public Library in Centereach, NY) begins the presentation with an introduction to the C&B Committee’s role in their library system and offers an overview of the Miller Business Center, which has regional resources for businesses, independent entrepreneurs, not-for-profit organizations, and individuals.

Olivia Branigan (Career and Learning Center Librarian at Brentwood Public Library in Brentwood, NY) presents on the career support offered by her library for the many non-English speaking members of the community. ​​

Edna Susman (Reference Librarian & Veterans Testimonial Project Director at Half Hollow Hills Library in Dix Hills, NY) discusses how the library supports veterans and what specific resources they offer veterans looking for jobs.
