More than 300 new interactive experiments in core subjects such as biology, chemistry, and physics have just been added to Science Online, perfect for enhancing STEM studies in these areas. More than just an experiment, each self-paced learning object is organized into sections consisting of animations, video clips, slideshows, images, and diagrams, along with activities that challenge and test students’ learning of the subject matter—an excellent resource for homeschoolers. Simulations, games, and embedded assessments like these have been shown to help motivate students to learn and to improve their critical-thinking skills.
The activities and quizzes in each section reinforce learning and allow students to test themselves by filling in tables and sentences using the drop-down menu, completing equations, labeling images, setting events in order, and more. Students can click the green circle with the checkmark to check their answers; a Lesson Report at the end of the interactive assesses the student’s work.
Users can find the new interactives on the home page under “Interactive Experiments,” via the “Experiments” link under “Browse Resources” in the upper right corner of the home page, and by hovering over the “Browse” drop-down menu at the top of the page and clicking on “Experiments.”
