SESSION 1
Making Your Website More Accessible (Without Rebuilding from the Ground Up)

Website accessibility continues to gain importance as organizations realize that there are serious legal consequences for websites that aren’t usable by people with disabilities. However, it is not always immediately practical to rebuild a website in its entirety to meet accessibility criteria.

In this webinar, web developer and library services manager Laura Solomon will briefly discuss the legal landscape and then break down some concrete actions and changes you can make specifically to your website’s content to make it more accessible.

SESSION 2
Auditing Your Library’s Website: How to Benchmark What You’ve Got

Have you wondered if your library’s website needs some work? How do you decide that, without being subjective? How do you know what to measure, or how to measure it? There are many current standards for content, images, navigation, usability, and more that can be readily applied to your website, allowing for a more objective analysis of what you currently have. A website audit can provide a valuable framework, especially before beginning a full or even partial redesign of your library’s site.

In this webinar, you will learn about data-based principles that can guide your future work and discover some tools that can provide concrete specifics for elements that may need attention.

SESSION 3
Working With What You’ve Got: Practical Tips for Redesigning Your Library’s Website

Even if you don’t have full control over your library’s website, you can take some small, important steps toward improving your users’ experience. In this webinar, you will learn how to write better for the web, tweak navigation and graphics, and other important, small fixes to assist in creating a website that solves your users’ problems, not add to them.
