Social studies and history curricula are about so much more than remembering the names, facts, and dates of popular historical events. The National Council for the Social Studies says the “primary purpose of social studies is to help young people develop the ability to make informed and reasoned decisions for the public good as citizens of a culturally diverse, democratic society in an interdependent world.” So, what tools can we as educators use to help them achieve that goal?
